I have been working two jobs for about a year now. The full time job in the radiology facility, and the part time job at the jewelry store. I love the jewelry store, and they love me... to the point where I was working about 30 hours a week, in addition to my 40 hr/week job. I got to the end of my rope and now work one day every 2 weeks at the jewelry store. This they finally understand -- 15 hours a week they did not.
Today I was off, but, it was our remount show, and, I did have a monitary goal for today. I told every customer (on my 10 hours a month of working), sent out postcards of names of people I've collected over the year, and, still, I had no bites.
I mentioned it was Remount day to a couple coworkers at the radiology place, and to my surprise, a couple of people were really interested. One got her ring repaired (ok, only $45, but still, I had a sale!) and one came to look at designing a custom wedding band. I was off the clock, but on the sales floor for both of these customer/coworkers.
Then, a customer of mine from like a month ago came in. She and her partner had picked out wedding bands. They were apprehensive about coming into a jewelry store, admitting they were buying rings for eachother, and what the sales person's reaction would be. I really meshed with these customers, and really put them at ease, as well as helping them to pick out gorgeous rings.
So, one of them came back today. She said she had called, and they told her I would not be in today. She was sad, but, luckily she spoke with my manager who convinced her to come in anyway, and she would give me credit for the sale. She was so surprised when I was in the store. I was able to take care of her, get her the rings she wanted, and ring her up (in addition to getting her 12 months interest free credit).
She also gave me a letter in a sealed envelope with my manager's name on it. She once again thanked me for all the help I gave her. She's so sweet.
After I rang her up, my coworker (who patiently waited through the whole sale!) and I went out to eat. Then we did some shopping.
On my way home, I looked up into the sky and saw a phenominal rainbow.
This was a great day!
