...but a stupid suggestion I made saved my company $100,000 and I got $100 bonus!!! 
They have been requesting cost savings all year, and I had an idea...didn't submit it. Then one day, there was a notice on our web site that ideas that get implemented earn a cash bonus, so I put my stupid idea down on paper. I really, seriously, thought it was incredibly silly, and promptly forgot I sent it in.
So today my boss asks in staff who attended the All Hands Meeting last week (no one because we are all too busy) and proceeds to tells us that it was repeatedly announced in the meeting that "someone had made a suggestion that saved the company $100,000." My dumb suggestion! 
I can't go into too much detail on what it was, but I was pretty surprised.

Congrats.
My one big suggestion was about the air fresheners someone put in the bathroom. They automatically sprayed foul smelling fragrances at regular timed intervals. They were right over the toilet, so you'd be sitting there doing your business and get gassed.
I told them it reminded me of Auschwitz. I also mentioned that many employees were getting ill from them. In addition, I mentioned that many patients do not find the fragrance pleasing... in fact, quite the opposite.
My suggestion never went anywhere tho. No bonus, no stinky things removed... nothing. I finally took the batteries out and thew away the fragrence part. I think my coworkers should pool together to give me a reward for saving us all from that gas chamber thing. |
