Needed to vent somewhere with anonymity. Going through a career transition from running my own business to working for "the man" again. All jesting aside, I am actually excited about it and look forward to the office thing. Most recruiters have been complete angels, contacting me first and honestly trying to help in a positive and supportive manner.
Until today. A "career services" company contacted me and asked me to come in for an interview. By the time I left, I felt like I needed a shower. The guy spent the whole time in negative land, giving me the "little lady" treatment, trying to find a way to tell me I wasn't qualified to do what I want to do. I looked at him in disbelief, knowing that I had already been turned down one job in the field because I was "overqualified."
It is tough enough to keep a positive, energetic attitude up when you are looking for a job. Wouldn't you think it would be in a recruiters best interest to pump up their applicants? After all, a confident applicant who knows what they can and can't do is worth much more $$ than one who doesn't believe they can do anything.
Thank you for letting me rant.
