I just had to go to my boss and request that the standard clause in the employee rules that I sign saying I won't surf porn on company computers be removed.

And she agreed I am officially allowed to surf porn at work now.

Why I'm allowed to view porn at work and you're not

I work in a datacenter. Lots and lots of web servers. Rented out to lots and lots of different people.

Today, I was asked to troubleshoot a problem. Logged into the server and was confronted with all sorts of interesting software designed to run chat rooms for gay male porn sites.

Later today, I was asked to reboot a server. The owner of the server had blocked pings. So, to verify that it was accessible, I opened up his server ip in my web browser. More porn.

Lots and lots of these servers have porn and other 'interesting' things on them. So, I figured I better cover my butt and explain to my boss why she might walk in and find porn on my monitor. And, she agreed to take that clause out of my contract
