| | Yeah, don't give them Pippa's IM... some things are too hard to explain in writing, so you should give them her phone number instead.

| | This is the time that you can be perfectly honest with the boss. And, my advice, is that you'd better be because the CC won't be when you're gone. Just tell him the facts and problems straight up and he'll get the picture when they tell him stuff in their whiney voices. That's if you care what he thinks about you when you're gone. Otherwise, it'll all be their problem because you've done the best you can with the material you have to work with. |

| | Actually... if you really like the boss, your last day you can tell him, friend-to-friend, all that you put up with while you were there. He should know that he may need to replace one or both of THEM once he's filled your slot, or your office will become a revolving door of people who aren't as patient as you were.

| | I am going to talk to him.
I know that I'll be blamed for things that aren't my fault. #2 has done that all along, but he needs to know the situation now. Thanks! |

| | I couldn't remember how to make the calculator tell me what percent off something was. When I started my jewelry job I had to ask how to take percentages off. But once someone told me put in $540, put a minus, put 18% and hit equal, I was good to go
I wouldn't begrudge her for asking a couple of "dumb" questions when she's doing something she is not used to doing. It's the unwillingness to learn that is the real problem. Boss will have a rude awakening.
Worm, ask for an exit interview, if he wasn't already planning to give you one. |

| | I think that sometimes different calculators do percents different ways, IIRC. Maybe not. I just seem to remember always getting confused when confronted with a machine I wasn't familiar with. But I know how to figure percents, so no problem. Give me enough time and I can even usually figure them in my head.

| | I used to find a sale....say, 40 percent off 30 dollars. Get the answer 12 and then subtract 12 from the 40 to get my price. It finally dawned on me to think of it in a one step operation of 60% of 30 is what I'm going to pay.
But, people unwilling to learn don't make good students or good workers. |

| | It has nothing to do with calculators. It has to do with not knowing what a percent is. |

| | Let the games begin!
E-mail from Bangkok: Blah Blah blah, I asked [Worm] and got no response blah blah blah.
Worm: I e-mailed this, he responded that, I told him the other.
Boss: I know, I have my copy of the e-mail.
CCW1 e-mail (cc: boss and everyone in Bangkok): [Worm] this is a problem. Did you take care of it?
Worm (cc: boss and everyone in Bangkok): No - because when the faxes arrived I asked if there was anything for me and you said no. This is the first that I'm hearing about it so I'll take care of it now.
CCW1 (no CC list): Thanks
CCW2 is having a hissy fit about something or other today.
Since learning that they scream "Boss!" and run back to their desks when he arrives, Boss has taken to parking on the side of the building.
I suggested Webcam and told him that I call them CCWs. He laughed. |

| | Damn, they're determined to make you a scapegoat in your last week, aren't they? If this is what they do now, I'll bet there's a lot of "[worm] didn't show us how to do this, so everything's a mess" emails cc'ed to the world afer you leave. Which, of course, you should NOT WORRY ABOUT IN THE SLIGHTEST, by the way, because you shouldn't give a hoot about what any of those folks think if they haven't been smart enough to figure everything out before now.

| | I already addressed that with the boss too.
I told him that I know that I'll be blamed for things when I leave, and I don't really care, but that I want him to know what's really going on. He knows. He knows that #1 has gotten very lazy and he is aware that she is resisting learning things. He said that even though #2 is a crazy B$tch, she at least tries to look busy, but #1 used to work hard and no longer does - she thinks she's the queen. I also expected Bangkok to blame me for stuff. I just didn't think all this would start till....I don't know.....Wed morning! |

I was in a similar situation when I went on my first 2 maternity leaves. I trained someone to do my job for 2 months, let them totally take over the position for 4 weeks prior to my due date with me there to answer any questions, then went out on leave. Both times I was blamed for not training them enough so they failed.
When I left that position, I had a young man that had been working for me, training for my position while he was waiting for his own store, for more than 6 months. He told everyone that he was running the show and that I was just a figurehead. When I left, he took over for me. Prior to my leaving, we had the top store in the area, with 20 or more percent sales increases on a monthly basis. When he failed, he claimed he was never trained. Ugh. People...
Wormie, you have my sympathies-
