| | Re It's gone beyond just food... | | I thought of this thread this week when I came in and found a quarter on my desk.
Apparently I'd dropped one on the floor(I vaguely recall doing this, thinking I need to get that and then forgetting about it)
The cleaning crew found it, and put it on my desk. I'd never have noticed it gone, but I sure noticed that they put it back
Now, if we could just figure out who is eating all the good yogurt and cheese sticks. That has to be a coworker

| | Re It's gone beyond just food... | | Twice now people's slices of pizza (in boxes) went missing from the fridge. We think our crazy coworker has eaten them. Except she's diabetic, which means she would have peeled the cheese off the top of the slices and thrown the rest away. When someone's planning on having lunch and finds their lunch gone, the thought that half of it was thrown away is Not a Happy Thought.

One of the lady's down the hall brought in her own Mini fridge. I can't blame her a bit, she's had a bunch of stuff taken.

| | Re It's gone beyond just food... | | We had a thief at work. We went from leaving our purses out, to saying "didn't I get $60 out of the ATM the other day... how come I have less than $20 left? What the heck did I buy...?"
Eventually our theif got brazen. She took someone's rent money (over a grand) out of a coworker's purse. She sat next to this woman. There was only the two of them on that side of the room. The girl with the money had mentioned the fact that she had it to her coworker (it came up during a story she told). She got up and went to the bathroom. When she checked on it at lunch time (to pay the landlord) it was gone.
That's when we had an idea who our thief was.
People didn't want to believe it was her. Small things kept disappearing -- clothing, food, etc. A new coworker was sitting next to her. New coworker mentioned that she had saved all the gift certificates she received all year, so that she could use them to buy her son's Christmas presents. She mentioned that if she hadn't done this, she wouldn't have any gifts to give him for Christmas.
You guessed it. Coworker went to the bathroom. When the coworker was taking her gift certificates out after work, they were all gone.
Again, nothing could be proven. But once again, everyone believed they knew who the thief was.
The thief would open, and would also close, depending on what was needed from her. This left her alone in an empty building to steal. One morning a manger happened to come in early. When she did, she saw our thief, taking 5 gallon bottles of water, and putting them in her car. She was fired on the spot.
Things don't go missing any more. It's been nice.
Unfortunately, some people remained her friend. One of my friends remained friends with the thief. Friend's MIL was dying and bedridden. Friend brought thief over to dying MIL's one time. Dying MIL opened the drawer next to her to get some cash to reimburse something. Now the thief saw where the money was in the house. Because the MIL was dying, and everyone in the family, and friends of hers, was trying to take turns taking care of this woman, they had a place where they kept a key. Thief saw the key's hiding place. Of course, the thief came back and took that money when she knew my friend had taken her MIL to the hospital.
How sick can you be? |

| | Re It's gone beyond just food... | | Today my sunflower seeds are gone. As in someone took home a whole four-cup container of Whole Foods sunflower seeds Friday. And no, the crazy diabetic coworker wasn't in the office Friday, so now we think it's the accountant.
