| | Re Tips on Getting More Work Done | | On the topic of getting things done, I have two contributions:
Understand the concept of "good enough" as opposed to perfect. The goal of perfection blocks production.
Try writing three pages by hand, single spaced, stream of conciousness every morning first thing, to clear the cobwebs. This works! Takes half an hour. If that's too long, write one page. Put it away. If you want to pick up on recurring themes, read the pages after a month and highlight stuff. But you don't have to. Believe me, you'll get sick of bitching about the same things everymorning and do something about them!
If you like this idea, read The Artists Way, by Julia Cameron.

| | Re Tips on Getting More Work Done | | I tried that once! It only lasted a few days though. Maybe I should try it again. There's a lot of clutter in my head these days.

| | Re Tips on Getting More Work Done | | Try writing some of the clutter away! My professor said she gets up at 4:30am to have the half hour to write her morning pages every day.
I was writing for several weeks before I noticed a difference. If I hadn't had it assigned for a grade, of course I wouldn't have done it. It meant I had to plan the first part of my day, and I wouldn't even brush my teeth or talk to anyone before I finished writing. (My DH never knew how much bitching the morning pages saved him listening to!) Having said that, I need to go back to doing the writing every day again, as waking up is the worst part of my day, and writing helps.

| | Re Tips on Getting More Work Done | | Morning pages? Are you following Julia Cameron's "Artist's Way," Helen?
I have written preachy how-to articles about behaviors I don't always practice, too. Been there, done that. Are we hoping that perhaps the kinesthetic act of tapping the words on the keys will bring them to our brains via a different pathway? | | |
