| | I am worried about my Job.... | | I am running my own website, however I start to think about this Job because I don't really go out of my room for 10 hours a day.
I work in front of my PC to maintain my website and SEO and somehow it takes most of my time.
Thinking of this makes me wonder, will this be a good job for me later on?
Some people say that website is a good investment, but doing things like this make me a bookworm one day
What do you all think? |

| | Re I am worried about my Job.... | | Eventually, the amount of maintenance work you need to do on a site does lessen. And, you'll grow faster and more efficient as time passes. If you really enjoy the work, there are ways to make sure you can have a life too. As a web worker, with the right tools, you can work basically anywhere. http://www.eaforums.com/forums/busin...hlight=bedouin

| | Re I am worried about my Job.... | | I think it's important to find a balance between work and life, but 10 hours a day in front of a computer still leaves 14 hours left for sleep and other activities.
Do many of your hobbies involved socializing? If your hobbies are mostly solitary, too, then maybe you need to find some social hobbies.
Or change a hobby you have (if you walk on a treadmill, for example, call a neighbor and walk outdoors in the morning for an hour.) |

| | Re I am worried about my Job.... | | Well personally, because I work too much in front of my PC I don't really have a lot of friends to go out with and even when I managed to go out with them I don't really know what to talk about
It seems that I live in different world, so when they ask me what I am doing now, I would just reply maintaining my website and SEO and none of them understand of it and vice versa.
May I know some of you who work in front of PC more than 10 hours a day but still have a good social life? |

| | Re I am worried about my Job.... | | I have met a lot of friends online and then gotten to meet them in real life. Because we have similar interests, we can talk about things like SEO or forums or whatever we both have in common. One other thing regarding SEO. Spending hours at a time making sure your links are on various forums doesn't help all that much. Smart forum owners who have grown weary of being spammed by promoters are taking to hiding links from google and other guests if they were posted by new users. In fact, I'm working on mods now to prevent things like a user's home page, location, signature, etc. from showing up to guests. Combining that with a mod that doesn't let newcomers post links will throttle a lot of the spam the forum gets. Some promotion of a site is necessary, sure. But, if you build great content, the traffic WILL come. Then, you won't need to work at it so hard and you'll be able to step out in the sunshine and have some fun.

| | Re I am worried about my Job.... | | I am not really sure about meeting new friends because actually I am in the middle of Computer Freaks and ordinary people, meaning if I go out with some PC freaks I enjoy talking to them but it won't last long coz sometimes I want to talk about something fun like ordinary people and vice versa, but maybe I should try your advice.
About SEO, I know that posting in various forums about the links are not really effective, but still I don't know what else to do. I just started learning website for 3 months by myself so I'm still confused even with adsense and traffic terms, anchor links, etc.
Sometimes it is frustrating because you are noob and there are still a lot of things to learn but no one helps you because you don't even know what the real problem is ....
Pathetic isn't it? | | |
