| | they've changed the "core" hours AGAIN. last week we were told-we need to be there between 7 am and 9 am and can't leave before 4 pm
this week we're told-we can't be in earlier than 7:30 am and we can't leave before 4:30 pm
If I didn't have an active workers comp issue going I'd be so gone right now, I'd rather do temp work again. But right now I"M STUCK.

| | But why would the comp issue be affected if you left for other (valid) reasons? Otherwise people would be "laid off" all the time after comp claims!

| | Yes, why does one effect the other. This change gives you a great reason to leave without burning bridges. You moved and the new schedule doesn't allow you to be on time when you need to be home with your kids. |

| | I can't really leave while I'm still undergoing treatment for a current workers comp injury. Until there is resolution for that-I'm pretty much stuck, I can't find another job that would be willing to take me on, knowing I'm still doing thearpy and treatment for a current injury. When I have my therapy has become an issue as well. Long story but really agrevating

| | Let's hope this turns into one of those rare stories, one about workman's comp being cooperative and helpful.

| | They did a work place eval about a month ago and I'm supposed to be getting a new keyboard and this thing that sticks out from my monitor to place my work in so I'm not laying my paperwork direclty in front of the keyboard, I'm supposed to get a mousepad with a wrist rest and that thing that goes in front of your keyboard to rest your wrists on. I also needed a foot rest and to raise my monitor three inches-I got an old phone book-to raise the monitor, and a broken down foot rest that falls apart every time I move it.
Still waiting on everything else. Which, would be the things that might actually help-the problem is my left wrist, hand and arm. it's gotten worse, so I went back to the dr last week and got put in Physical therapy, I had to rescheudal the first apt for this morning-and was sent an email telling me that I shouldn't shedual for monday/tuesday-I responded back that I don't have a lot of control depending on how often they want me to go-which apparently resulted in a phone call to the PT people, who told them we'll work with her schedual as much as we can but if we can only see her twice a week vs. three times it will take longer to fix. I shcedualed for before work on Monday, so I can stay later if I need to-I can't realistically schedual for tues because of deadlines, and as far as I'm concerned-any other day any other time is fair game-I'm the one losing money to go back and forth to these apointments, not them.
in additon-I'm not supposed to work with my left hand for 15 min every hour-not off the computer ect, just not work with it-but my boss/supervisor says-company policy says shut down the computer all the way-so for 15 minutes I'm trying to figure out something to do-that is work but not with my left hand at all-which is damned near nothing. ....

| | Absolutely. If one job gives you an injury, they have to pay for whatevery therapy/treatment you need whether or not you still work for them if Workman's Comp says so. The wristrests are what, $3.50 each? Don't sit there holding out for THAT!

| | They also can't discriminate if you have a disability. So if you get hired some place else, they can't fire you when they find out you need to take 15 minutes off with your left hand.
When I was hurt on my right side I was typing only with my left for a bit. I managed to relearn typing so I was efficient, single-handedly.
If I were you and I got another job, and typing was essential for it, I think I would not mention it to them, and I'd type with my right as much as possible. You can still go for treatments, etc. I also would find out if there are other PT places. Most are much more accomodating than your place sounds like it is. Most realize that their patients are people that work, so they have evening hours. I've had PT at a few different places, and all had evening hours. I'm sure you feel comfortable going to the place your doctor told you to go, but if you ask your doctor for a place with evening hours, I'm sure he/she knows one... |

| | Fridai, the fact that you have had an ergo eval done and they have done nothing screams "unfair labour practices" at me. If you are not union (and I don't think you are), you need to get in to HR,and if they are not responsive (like within 24 hours), then call the dept of labour.
Screwing with the hours you work is one thing (it's at the discretion of the company, and while it's annoying, it's their purgative and probably not against any law). But ignoring ergo eval and/or making it difficult for you to comply with the doctor's instructions for a work-related injury is another. That borders on illegal.

| | Purgative - a preview of purgatory?
But yeah, what Lynn said. And your leaving does not stop your case against them in any way.

| | thanks guys, now I'm smiling. What I may likely do is approach the temp agencies near hear and see if I can find work doing something-simaler but not quite as data entry involved as I'm doing now. That may make all the difference in the world.
I had my first appointment with PT, it took a long time, I got in at nearly 11 and stayed until 5:30 pm(which given my commute is the latest I'm going to) I have apointments schedualed three times a week-Mon/Wen/Fri for at least three weeks, Wens is at 9 am-the rest are at 8:30 am-the earliest I can get there is 8:15, the earliest they have an appointment is 8:30. My supervisor was not happy, she was grumpy and nasty when I got there(well yes I am 3 and 1/2 hours late-you knew I'd be late )
she wouldn't even speak to me, I gave her the info from the dr's and she spent the rest of the day being nasty in emails-I started copying her supervisor on everything because she really was a PITA. One of the things we got into it about-via email was soemthing I hadn't been trained on and she is insisting that I sat with L and T and got trained by L-um NO, sorry, I've never sat with T and I'd sooner pull my teeth out that train with L-it never happened. but she insists it did. It didn't....
Looking for more work, I want to be honest upfront-I don't like secrets or surprises(I'm reminded of Shooter Jennings new song Higher-he sang it on CSI last week... where he tells the truth about a relationship-no candy no flowers etc...) no surprises, so I'd have to be honest with whoever hired me, I wouldn't and couldn't ethically let someone hire me not telling them about the workers comp. Not that it may be an issue. Right now I'm ready to bag groceries again. I'm so fed up with Corporate.
Oh and it's not just me they're screwing with hours-it's the whole department. If it were just me I'd have a case against them easy.

| | Best thing you can do is to do exactly what you're doing... forwarding those nasty-grams to the person's supervisor... AND, any responses you give should be sweet as sugar. Keep it all in writing, keep giving her enough rope to hang herself.

| | Fridai, the issue is that while it's illegal to not hire you because of a Worker's Comp issue, they can always find another reason to not hire you when the real reason IS the Worker's Comp issue. | | |
