Went out for a department lunch to celebrate two colleagues birthdays.
Somehow, the glass had no bottom.
Oy. How's your day?

When I worked for the three-letter company, corporate policy was that you could not return to work if you had alcohol at lunch. I never did understand where the deterrent was supposed to come in there. |

I once spent an afternoon completing auto loan credit investigations after a three-martini lunch with the department.
It is only purely a coincidence that the bank laid off half the division the next year when they had a cash crunch.

And I came back to a cc of a scathing email to one of my staff.
I felt compelled to reply. I was very professional considering that my office is spinning.
One more margarita and someone would have been bitch slapped.

If any of this fun stuff happens at my work it is all done purely sober. Sometimes I wish I could explain some of the stuff I do on lunch martinis. Hey, maybe I'll start and see where it gets me!

I left for work this morning and got about 3 miles from the house before the van broke again. Spent 2 wet cold hours in the van waiting for the two truck. Came home and totally gave up on the idea of going to work.
Sara's day sounds much better.

Oh snap. Last time I had the bed spins (years ago) it was tequila. Last time I went from praying I don't throw up to praying I DO throw up, it was tequila. Nasty stuff, that tequila.

I have never had alcohol for lunch when at work :o I can't imagine.
After hours, while still at work, yes... but never in the middle of the day :o
And everyone thought I had the cool job because I get to do luncheons. Hrumph! |

I swear, from now on I will pay careful attention to where the waiter is at all times. And if he's behind me with a pitcher I will not let him refill my glass.
Because once it's in my glass it can't be wasted. Unlike me. Wasted. Very wasted.
Tomorrow is a going away lunch for a different colleague. We're going for sushi.
No sake for me.  Ow. That hurt.

That's not to say I've never had a drink at lunch though.
And today? I had a client meeting until around 1, then decided I needed to go home and work on my tax prep. Shoulda been drinking instead.

There are days that I believe I NEED to drink my lunch. Beyond wishes, gone to need. But alas, I have never had a drink at lunch and gone back to teach. Might make for a very interesting afternoon tho.

I did not have a drink at lunch.
I had four.
Actually, I was functioning fine at work. And they got extra out of me because I dared not leave until I was sober enough to drive.
Once I got home though....

Holy cow. Four margaritas. Two will knock me on my ass. Sara, you have both my admiration and my sympathy.
I won't even drink at home if I'm grading - depending on my mood, everyone would either get an A or an F.

I have only have that many drinks in Cindy's backyard, and then I swore I never had that many. Might have been margaritas, or it could have been mojitos. Seems like I stopped noticing when helpful folks refilled my glass. We all had such a good time, and everything everyone said was so funny, strangely enough...

Helen...it only takes ONE of Cindy's drinks to put me on my ass. Her margaritas (and mojitos) are legendary...a little of this, a lot of that, oh, and if there's a little Jose left in the bottle, just add it.
