| | No More Fridays!!! | | Whee! I worked my last full week of the year (well, actually a couple of weeks ago, but who's counting!)
I usually save up some vacation so I can take Fridays off in November and December. Tomorrow is my first "official" Friday off.
As I told DH, "I'm going to burn things". He wondered if that was dinner or something else. I told him it was silver and I think he was relieved.
I actually started a Friday To Do list a couple of weeks ago, and it's over a page long. Things I never get to during the year, and honestly, I might not get to before the end of the year.
But it's nice to have a list.....

Hmm. I am missing the . . .'background' for the 'silver' thought but...
My first thought was that you might be 'burning' your bra ... ya know, like a 60s demonstration of newly-found freedom or something.
Obviously I am dating myself here. ( and totally missing the point of your thought ... but I am sure I will be re-educated... )
...tom...

That reminds me of my favorite line from the Simpsons. "That's where I saw the leprechaun. He tells me to burrrn things!" |

| | tom! Yeah, I started soldering and fusing silver this year...I pull out my little butane torch and stink up the joint.
Husband is out of the house, son goes in about 45 minutes. I'm going to crank up The Eagles (concert prep, ya know ) and start in as soon as they are gone. Should be able to get in a nap around noon.

| | I would love that Amy, for a lot of reasons. Given the nature of my job, however, I don't think they'd go for it though.
Plus, my top priority (and the boss knows this) for the next four years is getting Jeremy through high school. That entails a lot of follow up when he's not in school - 10 hour days would be detrimental to that.
I'm having fun. Soldered three pairs of copper/sterling earrings, did a small repair solder job for a friend (more to see if I could do it than anything else...), prepped silver work for three silver pendants, made a copper wire pendant and PITA necklace, finished up a copper necklace I started last night. Carded a bunch of earrings that came out of the tumbler this a.m.
Watched some snow come down. It stopped and most of it's melted except for a wee bit on the deck.
Off to nap. Yawn, I feel like I've put in a full day!

Well, I actually spoke too soon....best laid plans, ya know. Last week, I was out sick two days. I told my boss on Thursday that I'd be in on Friday - tons to catch up on, especially with Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner. I ended up not only working on Friday, but working LATE. Didn't leave the office until nearly 5:30 (I'm usually out between 4 and 4:30, Friday's no later than 3:30)
I'll get that vacation day in before the end of the year though.

| | No more Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays OR Fridays.
At least until January 5.
I'm on vacation until then. Looks like the kid will be home with me tomorrow due to the storm, and then he'll finish up finals on Monday and we'll have some "quality" time together.
Otherwise, I'm "free" for just over two weeks. Bliss. I told my guys to call if they need me, my highest priority is to clean out my tupperware cupboard (well, actually, I have more pressing things, but that is the easiest to describe )
ahhhhh....maybe some relaxation in store?

| | Four weeks, plus 3 personal days and 5 PTO days. We only get 5 days of sick leave to use a year - the PTO used to be classified as sick leave and I never, ever used sick leave (this year I did end up using 3 days). I think I have about 500 hours accrued in my sick bank.
I do manage to use up all my vacation hours every year, although this year was kind of touch and go. We are way busier this December than usual!

| | Wow, I want Lynn's job.
I have the most time off allowed... I think it's 15 vacation days, 5 personal days, and 5 sick days. Only the doctors get more.
I don't use my sick days because we get a bonus for every six months that we don't use them. I'll go in unless I absolutely cannot because I need the money more than anything else |

| | LOL, my job, you might not want (although I love it). But for all it's faults, my company does have excellent time off policies.
Yesterday I did do some cleaning....junk hanging around the kitchen area that I was sick of looking at. For some reason, we had phone books from 2000. Not any more.
Even though I have two weeks off, it will go fast with the holidays. Seems everything is a flurry of getting ready for one, then another. We traditionally have the New Year's Eve party here (my favorite holiday ) so next week, I'll have to clean and cook again.

| | Huh. If it weren't for the tide table, I wouldn't even have a 2009 phone book! I never look at phone books any more, I'm always looking things up on line

| | I have never gotten that one, Margaret!
Yesterday I went to Cheeseburger in Paradise to meet a friend for lunch. It was "island-licious", although I would have rather had my bare feet in the sand instead of the socks and tennies required to deal with the howling winds outside.
The winds were so bad in fact, I got home and two of our lighted holiday trees (the big spiral ones) had SNAPPED at the base. Not the plastic stands...the metal pole! I unplugged them and will deal with them today.
Today is some cursory cleaning and appetizer making. Have the beans on for tomorrow (black-eyed peas, y'all) and making bread. yummmm the house is going to smell good!!!!
