I've had this idea kicking around for a while.
In late January, I'll be celebrating the 24th anniversary of my transplant. Since it's a kidney transplant, and kidneys come in pairs in non-transplanted people (lucky you if you're one of 'em) - I do hereby announce -
The First Annual Matched Set writeoff
Rules of engagement:
1. Write about a book and its associated movie. (Examples include Blood Work, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep/Blade Runner, The Thorn Birds book/TV miniseries, and any film which has an associated novel or biography. Yes, novelizations do count. So do biographies such as My Left Foot. So does Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex, which Woody Allen actually brought to the big screen.)
2. Announce your intention to do so either here or to my private email box that I use for Epinions.com (look in my profile page, linked to in my sig line).
3. There is no particular recommended paragraph - just mention that it's the Matched Set writeoff. I will attempt to post as many of the participants on my profile page as possible (my HTML skills stink, I'm lucky I can do italics and bold, so I will just list your user name there). But "Crashers" are welcome.
4. The offical date for this writeoff is January 29, 2002 (the exact 24th anniversary, but I wanted to give everyone a heads-up so they had time to read the book). Latecomers encouraged - you can post this writeoff as a part of Amy Khar's February challenge if you wish.
Thanks, everyone.
Robin Peters
