Arrow The Quotes That Make The Movies

The basic idea is about quotes! How do they affect a movie? Often, they can be so important that the movie simply is not complete without them. The idea is to review a movie with such a quote, explaining why the quote is so important. More details are on my profile page

Re: The Quotes That Make The Movies

Sounds interesting. I'll be viewing some of my movies in an effort to find a quote-worthy one.

Re: The Quotes That Make The Movies

Perhaps, the CORNIEST cliched quote I have ever heard in a movie was We'll be together in this life or the next, said by Orlando Bloom in Troy. For me, this really did encapsulate what the movie was all about - it didn't attempt to carve any sort of a unique niche for itself in the world of filmmaking. It was just another blockbuster disappointment.

Sorry I posted the quote here, but there was no way I was writing an entire review on either this quote or the movie!

I'd be intrigued by any comments...

Re: The Quotes That Make The Movies

Possibly the all time worst line from a movie--and one that perfectly fits the movie it was in--is from the movie Armageddon.

'Requesting permission to shake the hand of the daughter of the bravest man I ever met.'

When the tomato and I first saw this movie in the theatre (what a waste of money) it was all we could do not to laugh.

Amy - Too right this is a dumb line - certainly is a tongue in cheek moment, if there ever was one... It's always amusing when a request and a blatant compliment are juxtaposed in the same sentence...

Sadly, I'm not so sure it was meant tongue in cheek--the movie seemed to take itself pretty seriously. If this was meant as subtle humor, it was subtle enough that I completely missed it.

I seem to recall that I did laugh out loud - a hearty HA! blurted out before I could stop myself...
