My first response was skepticism. The only person who could speak for Shakespeare is dead, and we aren't even certain who that person was.
Then I became more skeptical when I learned that not only is the project leader proposing to speak for Shakespeare, she plans to speak for other literary giants and all of their characters as well.
My skepticism is heightened by her mention of a "buy-in." If her goal is to involve people in a fun and enlightening project, terrific. But if she's looking to make money, it smacks of Tom Sawyer. Let her do her own work.
And although the project is still in the development stages, she should be very clear about how ownership of the results will be handled. Anyone who gets involved in the early phase should know whether they'll have an interest in the final product. |
