Apparently well-fed writers do not send queries on travel, food, book reviews etc. to magazines and hope for the best.
The book was very disappointing. |
Thanks, I hadn't thought of checking it out at the library first before spending my money. I'll do that.
Any chance you remembe the author so I can find it?
BTW, for me the reason I'm attracted to is precisely because it's all about contracting with businesses to provide writing services. To be honest, if you want to make a living as a free lanceer, business pay a LOT more then magazines, and if you can build up your clientele you can get a lot more (more or less) steady work.
There are a lot of good books out there on magazine freelancing and I recently run across something specifically on travel writing. I'll see if I can find it and pass the information along to you. It's something I'm interested in doing myself, but I need to spend more of my time on something that has the potential to provide a steadier income. I'll probably be out of a job soon, so this is probably the best time for me to see if I can work for myself.

BTW, with travel writing, work on your photography skills. Photos really sell travel articles, and I've heard that its hard to sell travel articles without good photos.
