Another reminder to write what you mean and mean what you write

The New York Times attempted to explain the popularity of President Bush among some immigrants and decendants from the Middle East in a front page story on Tuesday.

It took less than twelve hours for Slate's Jack Shafer to hilariously point out how badly such a seemingly simple story could go.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm to the point with my writing where the dreams of a bestseller have been replaced by the prayer that I never give anyone reason to write a piece like this.

This is why I'm grateful that my J-School gave automatic 1.0s on any factual error--including typos. I still make them, but boy, you recognize that the consequences can be humiliating.
