Re Mommy Blogger?

Did anyone else apply for any of these positions? I did, the next day after Leslie posted this, and then re-sent my app the next week after not hearing anything. That was last Monday, and I stil haven't heard a single word from them, not even a form letter.

Re Mommy Blogger?

Such is the life of a writer. 3/4 of the time a rejection comes in the form of silence.

Ah. Well, I've not done any writing other than for Eps. But if you're asking people to *apply* for a writing position, doesn't that imply the standard rules of asking them to apply for anything else?

Of course, from what I hear, applying for regular jobs is apt to get you about the same amount of silence.

I sent in a letter pretty much like what they were asking for - explaining who I am, why I would fit the bill for the position, the kinds of topics I could cover, etc. Then 3 samples on varying topics within the overall topic. (Homeschooling)

Re Mommy Blogger?

Ah. I see the problem. Hmmm. I don't have time to do it right now, but I'll post a brief (very brief) how-to on submitting for writing gigs later tonight in the Writer's Forum. It works differently than your normal application process. I'll try to make it comprehensive, with links to samples and such to help y'all out.

Re Mommy Blogger?

Wow, these people need to get their act together. I'm laughing, but in a way it's not funny.

So, I never heard from them, right?

Yesterday, I got TWO copies of a newsletter (full of coding garble here and there) that they're apparently sending out to everyone who has applied for the various spots, telling folks that they're going to send out this newsletter telling people what's going on, what spots are open, etc. If you want to apply for one of the following spots (list followed) please send in your application, or if you already have, please drop them a note with your name, the spot you applied for, and the phrase "application on file". So I did, as the one I applied for was on the list. I just hit "reply" as no other email address was supplied.

This morning I spot two more emails from them. One, a "thank you" reply to my message about applying for a spot, and then....

A note telling folks that there is an email problem, and her email @families.com is not working, so to use her @gmail address. Which is the email that she used to send out the newsletter to start with! The @families.com email address is NOWHERE in the original newsletter!

Methinks somebody's a wee bit overwhelmed and needs an assistant.

Re Mommy Blogger?

Glad you posted here, I had forgotten my promise to post some writing submittal guidelines. I'll try to get to it this week.
