Grammar Question

Because of the layout of what I'm working on, I have to write an address all on one line. Is this "ok?"

123 Any Rd. #456, City, State zip

or is it

123 Any Rd., #456, City, State zip

(I like it better the first way, not that my preference means it's correct )

Edit, the question has been answered numerous times below. Thanks.

Re Grammar Question

Yep, I think the first way works better too.

You're up to three. How many preferences do you have to get before it's correct?

Re Grammar Question

At two I told my coworker she was wrong and I researched it. She pulled out a dusty grammar guide and said "maybe you are right, but, my book says otherwise."

So, business cards I make look one way, business cards she makes look another.

Mine look "the first way."

Re Grammar Question

The dusty grammar guide is the problem.

Once upon a time, good grammar showed addresses as:

Miss Know-It-All Co-Worker
123 Boy Are You Wrong Street
Apt. No-Duh
Clueless, NY 12302

However, new postal regs have the apartment number on the same line as the address:

Ms. Haha I'm Right
234 Told You So Rd #Der
Hee Hee, NY 12302

So grammar would dictate you use the actual USPS conventions.

Re Grammar Question

The problem is that we have three addresses, three phone numbers, and three fax numbers on the business cards. The address gets 1 line, with a phone number beside it and a fax below it.

Otherwise I would write out the word "Suite" and it would be more clear to me which was correct.

Number one, for Pippa's reasoning.
