The National Writer's Union (a union I joined for a time--great way to network and protect the contracts you sign) issued the following warning:
AOL Time Warner told writers at Ski and Skiing Magazines that
unless they sign a Work For Hire contract, they would be
barred from writing for Ski and Skiing again. AOL Time Warner
publishes 56 magazines. See:

This does not sound good. I mean, when I do a catalog or some such for the seminary, a college, or whatever, I don't expect to retain rights to the thing (nor do I really want it). But I wouldn't sign over all my writing to them, any more than Epinions. Bleck!
