| | Well, I ran a search for insidesessions.com and I'm surprised no one's heard of it. Some famous authors like Tom Clancy, Amy Tan and Nora Roberts, I think, teach writing courses, you can talk with them, submit a manuscript to Penguin Putnam, Inc. and get a written eval from a top editor for a hundred bucks or it's fifty without the eval. There's 10 lessons. Also a course for music and can submit to Universal Music Group. I'm considering the fifty dollar one, but unfortunately I probably wouldn't get help on my play...Penguin Putnam publishes adult and children's books.

| | Funny to see Phyllis Grann listed as one of the "Industry Insiders," given her recent and very public split with Putnam. |

| | Tom Clancy is on my bad list. Sorry.
About ten years ago - a little more now - I was an Auditorium moderator for AOL. I was over at a friend's house and used her account to log on to the chat with Tom Clancy.
I asked several questions, not thinking that we were logged on using her account. Clancy praised my "insight" and "sharp questions" several times and sent me several private notes of encouragement during the chat. Then he found out I was a man - honestly didn't pretend to be a woman, but I was at her house and she was logged in at the time. Old smoothie immediately ignored any other comment I posted. Meanwhile, someone on staff told me that he was getting tons of propositions mixed in with real questions. (Probably like poor Alexis feels when moderating EA chats)

The guy's a jerk. | if you think he's a jerk on the internet, try meeting him in person! Or rather - not. I like his books, but I have an unbearable urge to bash his teeth in when encountered in the (overblown) flesh.

| | Is it a course for writing, or a course for publishing? |

| | Well, Clancy was hardly my first choice either. I don't know who all the writers are, but I imagine they publish successfully with Penguin Putnam and you could choose which author to be taught by. I think I'll email them some questions.

| | Kurt, it was my impression that it was designed to help writers write books that'll be published as well as tips on how to go about getting published.

| | Saw the commercial again on TV and there must be about ten authors, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. being one of them.

| | Today I got a very detailed description of their writing program, which has many topics for each ten sessions for you to choose from and 50 different and successful authors share. Ken Follett, Alice Hoffman and authors of various races and styles discuss how to get started, finding your voice, fiction vs nonfiction, getting an agent, collaborating with an editor, e-books and the future, publishing houses, becoming an editor, proposal letters and it goes on.
