Question How To Get Books Published???

My soon to be husband and I are wanting to bring our people's stories to life in children's books. I get to do the writing  and since he is such a wonderful artist (really he is...he can do portraits) he will be doing the illustrations.

So how do we get these books published?? Any thoughts???

Thanks!!

I found an earlier thread that has some general advice about publishing:

Unfortunately I've never published myself (my Muse goes into hysterical laughter just at the thought of it), but other folks here have ... maybe they can come up with some more specific tips for you.

There is a book you can buy called the "Children's Story and Illustration Market" or something of that name. The book has a very elaborate explanation on how to present for publication along with thousands of book publishers listed and ready for accepting people's work.

The 2002 Writer's Market might be handy.

If you don't have the $$ to invest in one, go to the library and read it. You'll get an idea of what publishers expect, and see the uphill battle writers endure.

There are some books on writing and getting published that will help you with query letters, submissions, agents or not, etc.

Also, just about all this information can be found somewhere on the Iternet. There are PLENTY of helpful writing sites that will help you get to know the business.

Good luck!
