Monthly Writing Contests

OK, I'm a little leery about anything with entry fees, but these are fairly low cost entry fees. This site holds monthly writing contests with each month having a different theme. February is poetry, March is fiction, April is non-fiction, May is children, etc.

If you're interested, take a look. The prizes run between $200 and $500:

i'm more leery with a writing contest with mistakes in the invitation. Whoever's writing this was sick the day they discussed apostrophes in class:

This contest is open to all writer's, both new and experienced.

We're leaving the guideline's wide open for you to shine.

Here's a doozy of a sentence. It's almost like a where's Waldo game . . .

The winner, and four honourable mentions will be e-published on our site, along with your bio's.

No wonder vanity presses get such good business . . . or maybe that should be presse's . . .

Heh. And also, I can't find the rules (if they even have any). Are they looking for novels, short-short stories or something in between? Who is doing the judging? How many submissions have they received in past contests (i.e., what can I expect the odds of winning to be)? Inquiring minds want to know, before sending them any money ...
