Make sure you buy kleenex for the graduation ceremony. Smile

RE: The Final Countdown
Great picture, Lynn.

Oh, you want to talk about countdowns and May being the best month ever as well as the month from HELL. Let me!

Monday: Senior Pictures
Wednesday: Tucker has "Mr. S.F." a spoof on pageants for senior boys.
Saturday: Jalee's piano recital and Senior Prom
13th: Mother's Day and a phone call from the missionary
16th: HE FINALLY COMES HOME
23-24: I have regional training meetings for work and it's my birthday
27th: Missionary will talk in church and it is tradition for as many family members and friends that can to come and support him. Tucker has seminary graduation and will be made an Elder at church. This will end up lasting from Friday through Monday.
28th: Missionary's "girlfriend" comes for a visit.
30th: Tucker's high school graduation (grandparents go home Thursday, not sure about the girlfriend)

I pretty sure I'm missing something but I got the big things in there!

Margo

RE: The Final Countdown
Busy times for you two! Smile

Lynn, what quotation did you pick to go with Jeremy's picture? And has he decided on the college situation?

Margo, does this mean that you're getting one home and are going to have to turn around and send the next one off?

RE: The Final Countdown
Definitely busy times!

One year to go for HS/homeschool here, but I'll be registering him for one or two classes at the local community college in the fall. One is American Sign Language (which I will take with him). Not sure what else. Hopefully math. I love math, but really enough is enough. Don't tell him I said that.

Melanie, I picked a Celtic blessing. Not the donkey one. It's a little sappy, but it will do.

Margo, you have my month X10!!! but such good stuff. Smile Our pageant spoof was Mr. SA - Jeremy did it this year, and I was proud of him for just participating.

We are having the open house at a park, but I still have to get stuff done around here. I told Dan yesterday that I have a project plan for open house/graduation. He laughed, but knows that I really do.

RE: The Final Countdown
We wrote our senior quotes, and made them difficult for parents to read... or so we thought.

My parents did buy a page in my year book though, and they did put a quote in there, plus some pics of me. I wish they let me pick the pictures... there was one really dorky one, and one of me holding hundred dollar bills next to the Christmas tree. Not what I would have picked! Tongue

Enjoy the ride, ladies! I can't read this title without hearing the song in my head.

Wink

I've just been informed that tomorrow is "Senior Destroy Uniforms Day". Yes, it means exactly what you think it does. Rolleyes

RE: The Final Countdown
Destroying uniforms was a tradition at my nursing school. I thought it a huge waste and took mine to the thrift shop where I'd purchased some of them. I doubt you can convince your senior to pass up the tradition, though.

RE: The Final Countdown
I might could be persuaded to let them do ONE high school uniform. All the rest would go to resale or something. Nursing? No way - my mom was in nursing school, I remember how expensive all that stuff is!

RE: The Final Countdown
I hope the destroying doesn't involve fire. I know one young man who has serious burns from exactly that! Maybe it will have better adult supervision...

Yes, Melanie, I get Bryce home this month and Tucker turns 19 in December so anytime in the next few months after that he'll go. IF he wants to and it appears that is his plan. Sigh.

RE: The Final Countdown
As far as destroying the uniforms....his dress shirts and pants have gotten to a state that if he were going back next year, I'd have to replace all of them. So I'm not concerned about wasting resources that could be reused.

They only "destroy" the uniform they are wearing for the day - and they still have to wear it all day, so while it may be in tatters and covered with Sharpie, it's not like they are nekkid or anything.

I think it's a fun idea. I joke that I burned my red and khaki when I left Target (never did, but I've never worn the color combination again either Wink)
Margo, you are one strong woman. :hugs:

RE: The Final Countdown
Open House today. Family is gradually trickling in, I have everything done, ready, and ready to rock & roll except fruit salad.

Heard a funny story when out to dinner this week. Open House invite (not ours, one someone else received) stated that the party was "Pending"...evidently it was questionable that the to-be-graduate would actually be graduating, and the parents wouldn't give her a party if she didn't make it. I guess I'd have the party anyway, just not accept gifts.

I totally forgot to pick up a pair of dress slacks for Jer to wear under his gown when I was out yesterday. Sheesh. Will have to make one final run into town for emergency pants before 2:00 tomorrow. Lol
