Looking Back

"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning."

RE: Looking Back
It is still surreal. Reading this brings it all back so vividly. Prayers to all those who survived and those who didn't.

Wow. I wasn't very active on the site back then, so hadn't read that before.

I miss some of those EA folks...they have sort of fallen off the face of the earth.

There's a ton of threads from that day in the archives. 9/11 is the reason the archives were never deleted.

RE: Looking Back
I remember sitting with Gracef in the chat room that morning. DH had just got in from working the night shift and gone to bed. I was so thankful to have you all.

RE: Looking Back
I was one of those depending on EA for news - we only had an antenna TV (which was useless when the tower fell) and portable radios, and couldn't stream video from news sites. EA was invaluable.

RE: Looking Back
Bob called home and told me to turn on the television - just in time for me to see the second plane hit the second tower. We had news here, but I couldn't keep it on after Matthew - 6 at the time - asked if his daddy would be coming home. Bob worked at NSA. He said they had to redesign their evacuation plans after 9/11 because what they had was too inefficient.
