said the "social networking" site was committing fraud

tagged.com came up in the Who's on Facebook thread (but it's not related to Facebook and hit non-Facebook users' inboxes too) - these are the emails that had subject lines saying "[your friend's full name] tagged you in some photos" and invited you to see the photos... but really took your info and copied your address book to send the same email to all your friends.

I got hit with that last spring on my school email address. Seems a bunch of us at school were hit. We aren't sure how it started, probably some parents...but it went around. We were invited to join Tagged....our IT people termed it a major nuisance. None of us joined...but I wound up blocking the email address. So far so good.
