Apply for Job During Stress?
I quit my part time jewelry store job. I really liked it, and I honestly liked the people, but, it got to be too much. If I asked for one day every two weeks, I'd be on the schedule for two days a week. If I agreed to work two days a week, I'd be on there for four. Plus I was getting calls at my other job, and late at night, when I wasn't working, pertaining to the job.

I do like having a second job, however. About 5-10 hours a week would be ideal for me. One that paid about 3x as much as the jewelry store would have been nice, however.

Now I've found a job I'm interested in, to do part-time. It would pay more like I would like to be paid, once I'm trained. It would also be up to me how many hours I work. It would be something I am qualified to do, because it's more or less what I went to school for. I'd really like to interview.

The catch is the last date for interviews is tomorrow night, and I just heard about it tonight. I would need to update my resume by tomorrow. Then I would have to have a seven-minute presentation prepared. I could probably pull this off, but, I would have liked more time.

In addition, I have an important doctor's appointment after work tomorrow. That's at 5. The interview is at 7, and I think it's at least an hour and a half away.

I'm afraid if I don't interview now, I'll forget all about this and I'll never do it. I'm afraid if I do interview there are so many factors that will stress me that it's just putting unnecessary pressure on myself, and I'm so completely afraid of failure, and I've got a lot of reasons to fail at this point.

Should I just go for it? Wait until next time something like this opens up?

Is this with a tutor center? 'cause they've got high turnover and this wouldn't be your last chance for an interview.

The beginning of the year is usually a time when lots of new jobs open up.

It sounds as if preparing for this interview (and possibly arriving too late to interview) would stretch you too thin. But if you decide to take a pass, I'm sure another interesting opportunity will present itself soon.

When a thought takes one's breath away, a grammar lesson seems an impertinence.

I did end up passing. Too much stress over a job I'd only want to work a few hours a week. I'll keep an eye out, however.

IMO simply applying for a job is stressful. I would have just gone for it, but that's me.
